A most appealing oil on board of apples by well known Norfolk and East Anglian artist Jean Alexander.
Jean was born in 1911 into an artistic family who often painted together. Her work was widely exhibited including the Royal Academy, the Society of Women Artist & the Whitechapel Art Gallery.
She studied firstly near home at Chelmsford and later at the Slade. She taught art for 30 years, travelled widely and retired to Norfolk in 1974. She died there in 1994.
